Why Safestore and Shurgard give different sizes
Both companies describe their units in square feet, but they match them to homes differently. For a one-bedroom flat, Safestore suggests 35 to 50 sq ft and Shurgard 75 sq ft. The calculator shows both, drawn to the same scale, so you can see the gap. If you own large furniture, compare the bigger size before you book.
How the calculator works
The size guidance is quoted word for word from each company's size page, with a link to it. The prices come from the store pages Shurgard publishes for its 94 UK stores, 44 of them in London, read on 5 November 2026. Shurgard lists weekly prices, which we convert to monthly by multiplying by 52 and dividing by 12.
