Typical price is the median current price for each size across Shurgard's UK stores. Half of the listings sit inside the range, a quarter below it and a quarter above it.

Special prices and standard rates
Shurgard shows a special price next to a crossed-out standard price on most of its units. On 5 November 2026, 83% of the units we read had a special price below the standard rate. For 50 sq ft the typical standard rate was £183 a month. Its pages say the special price "applies to your monthly rent" and can be combined with a first month offer. They do not say whether VAT is included.
Where these self storage prices come from
We read the unit prices Shurgard publishes on each of its UK store pages and convert them from weekly to monthly by multiplying by 52 and dividing by 12. For the industry as a whole, the SSA UK 2026 annual report, produced by the SSA UK and Cushman & Wakefield, puts revenue per square foot at £27.40 excluding VAT. Safestore's store pages do not list unit prices; it gives a price through a quote.
